There Is A Boy On Top Of My Bed – The Creation

“There Is A Boy On Top of My Bed” started as a clever twist on an old story. It would be my first adventure into children’s writing and that is exactly what it would be, an adventure.

Boy on Top

I have always been an outdoorsman, cycling, snowboarding, mountaineering; anything to take me closer to nature. *Insert any vision crossed between Rambo and Cliffhanger here.*  Not only would this be an adventure but one that would make you smile and laugh, or at least make a 9 year old laugh as that really is where my humour is mentally.

It has made for some epic battles of wit over the years with my son, Tavin, which leaves my wife Allison to groan.

When I started the story it was a much shorter version than what you see today in print. It was meant just as a story between father and son, but as our imaginations grew so did the story.

I couldn’t believe what I had created!

Then to be teamed up with my illustrator, Rob Langille, who brought my duo of Monster and Boy to life. As I turned the pages I was thrilled by how Rob helped the adventure unfold with colourful artwork that has incredible detail and many small recurring themes. One of my favorites pieces is still “The Map”, which is the beginning of any great expedition.

“There Is A Boy On Top of My Bed” was an eye opening and rewarding experience which I could never imagined would lead me to now a third book nearing release. Stay tuned for “The Golden Circle Fairies and the Battle for Dreams”.
